My research examines language, information engagement, decision-making, user experience, and digital learning. Methods include experiments, user research, and computational analysis of language.

  • Faculty Research Award Program – Category B (FRAP-B), Spring 2026. University at Albany, Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development. Amount: $3,242. Project: “Language, Participation, and Engagement in Mental Health Treatment Courts,” a research collaboration with Nevada’s Eighth Judicial District Court on legal language, compliance, and behavioral design in diversion court processes.

Research in Progress

Language, Participation, and Engagement in Mental Health Treatment Courts (2024–present). Interdisciplinary collaboration with Nevada’s Eighth Judicial District Court examining how legal language framing influences participant comprehension, compliance, and engagement in mental health diversion courts. Combines behavioral design, NLP, and applied predictive modeling. Supported by a FRAP-B award (Spring 2026).

Teaching Experience

Teaching includes information systems, databases, SQL, Python, business analytics, digital citizenship, and user experience research. Assignments include AI-assisted coding and evaluation of model outputs.

BITM 330: twelve semesters through Fall 2026, with 150 or more students per section and approximately 600 undergraduates per year.

Instructional Materials and Courseware

  • Author of Using Data to Drive Business Performance, a textbook on databases, analytics, business intelligence, and information systems (under review, Cengage Learning).
  • Developer of the companion interactive courseware (https://database-textbook.dimapublishing.com), providing interactive exercises, quizzes, and applied examples in databases, SQL, business intelligence, and information systems; used in BITM 330.
  • Developed assignments using generative AI and evaluation of its outputs in BITM 330 and BITM 522.
